For only the second time in its history—and the first since 1995—the France men’s national softball team is competing in the European Championships.
Nine teams are taking part in the tournament, which runs from June 21 to 26 in Ledenice and Sezimovo Usti, Czech Republic.
The French side kicks things off today, facing the Czech Republic and Sweden at 1:30 PM and 6:30 PM, respectively.
France National Team Roster
Manager Anthony CROS has selected 17 athletes for France’s second appearance at the European Championships.
A mixed squad, its core is made up of players from France’s top-tier Division 1 Softball clubs—Contes, Montpellier, Pessac, Clapiers-Jacou, and Saint-Raphaël—including former and current France national baseball team players like Anthony CROS, Jacques BOUCHERON, and Vincent FERREIRA. The team also features two Franco-Czech players competing in the Czech Extraliga, one of Europe’s top leagues: pitcher Philippe DROUOT and catcher Jean JANOUSEK.
