Nice and Grenoble Advance to the Finals
The two Division 1 regulars had a lot to lose against the Division 2 teams hoping to take their spots. For Strasbourg and Toulouse, these playoffs represented the ultimate step toward the elite. For Grenoble and Nice, they were the last defense before the uncertainty of relegation.
On paper, the Division 2 contenders had strong arguments. The Outlaws had just finished an outstanding offensive season, while the Stade Toulousain had dominated its championship. But playoffs don’t always reward the best statistics. They often reward the teams capable of surviving under pressure. And in that area, the Division 1 regulars had lessons to teach.

The Grizzlys Put the Outlaws Back on Track
Game 1: Grenoble Strikes Hard and Takes Control
The Grizzlys quickly reminded everyone why they belonged in the elite. Trailing 1-0 after Emma Prignot’s productive double in the first inning, the Iséroises immediately reacted to take the lead and never let it go.
The Grenoble offense struck hard on its first at-bat. Taking advantage of a defensive error, aggressive baserunning, and a series of runners on base, the Grizzlys scored four runs to completely turn the game around. Lahna Josselin Ogee drove in two runs with a single, while Shirley Patin added another run to make it 4-1.
The second inning sealed the game. Justine Liardet and Diane Simon pressured the Alsatian defense before Ellie Bouis delivered the game-changing hit with a two-run double. Grenoble then took a commanding 7-1 lead and never looked back. The Outlaws tried to rally in the fourth inning with runs from Inès Alarcon Fernandez and Aigline Stoeckel-Danguillaume, but the gap was already too wide.
A new offensive surge in the third and fourth innings allowed the Grizzlys to reach double digits and trigger the mercy rule. At the plate, Grenoble showed the depth that had sometimes been lacking during the regular season. Ellie Bouis finished with a double, a triple, and three RBIs. Lahna Josselin Ogee also delivered a standout performance with two hits and three RBIs. Justine Liardet added two hits and one RBI, while Diane Simon and Kristyna Korousova constantly pressured the opposing pitchers.
In the circle, Victoria Biteur lived up to her role perfectly. The Grenoble pitcher allowed only four hits and three runs in five innings, without issuing a single walk. Her dominance prevented the Strasbourg offense from chaining together the big innings that had been its strength in Division 2.
Defensively, the Grizzlys also limited damage despite a few tricky situations. Meanwhile, Strasbourg’s errors repeatedly gave the Grenoble offense extra opportunities, which they seized to showcase their power.
MVP: Ellie Bouis. With a double, a triple, and three RBIs, the Grizzlys player was the team’s primary offensive weapon, securing a decisive advantage from the first game of the series.

Game 2: Grenoble Closes the Debate with Authority
Back against the wall after the opening loss, Strasbourg hoped to turn the series around. Grenoble had other plans. In a spectacular second game won 14-3 in five innings, the Grizzlys secured their Division 1 status and ended the Outlaws’ promotion hopes.
From the first inning, the Iséroises set the tone. Ellie Bouis drove in the first run of the game before the Grenoble offense once again filled the bases. But it was in the second inning that everything changed.
Pressuring the Alsatians, Grenoble built a devastating seven-run rally. Walks piled up, runners advanced on every opportunity, and Shirley Patin sealed the deal with a three-run double that exploded the scoreboard. At 8-0, the Grizzlys already had one and a half feet in the finals.
Strasbourg showed its grit, though. Emma Prignot, Lucy Megret, and Elodie Otthoffer contributed to a three-run inning that briefly cut the lead to 8-3. But this rally was short-lived.
Grenoble immediately resumed its offensive march. Diane Simon, Kristyna Korousova, and Lahna Josselin Ogee reignited the attack in the third inning before a four-run inning in the fifth sealed the suspense. The Grizzlys finished the game with fourteen hits and fourteen runs, a full offensive display.
At the plate, Shirley Patin was again decisive with her three-run double and four RBIs. Kristyna Korousova had three hits and multiple RBIs. Diane Simon, Lahna Josselin Ogee, Justine Liardet, and Capucine Meiss all contributed with baserunning to gradually overwhelm the opposing defense.
Grenoble’s survival ultimately came down to its ability to set the pace immediately. With twenty-four runs scored in two games, the Grizzlys proved there was still a significant gap between the demands of Division 1 and those of Division 2.
MVP: Shirley Patin. Her three-run double in the decisive inning and four RBIs definitively swung the game in favor of the Iséroises.

In terms of hits, Grenoble dominated with twenty-three, compared to Strasbourg’s six. Defensively, the Outlaws committed six errors while the Grizzlys made only two, surrendering key moments under constant pressure from the Iséroises’ offense. Additionally, Strasbourg’s lack of baserunning aggression showed, with only one stolen base attempt in the entire series, severely limiting their scoring opportunities.
Despite the final score, several Strasbourg players showed performances clearly worthy of the top division. Elodie Otthoffer, in particular, delivered an outstanding performance in center field, covering vast ground with brilliant defensive runs. At shortstop, Jeanne Cordazzo impressed with her expansive range. Behind the plate, Abigail Voss, a former Grenoble catcher two years prior, displayed strong authority while remaining a dangerous hitter. At first base, Emma Prignot showed great confidence and power. Finally, Nikkie Mady Zavattero added a real power threat alongside a solid presence in left field.

The Cavigal Escapes the Tigresses’ Sharp Claws
Game 1: Nice Resists Toulouse’s Comeback
The season’s statistics had the Stade Toulousain as favorites for these playoffs. As the Division 2 leader with one of the best offenses in the league, the club arrived on the Côte d’Azur with ambitions to secure a spot in the elite. But Nice reminded everyone that Division 1 experience holds special value when the pressure rises.
Long dominated by the pitchers, the game gradually turned into a duel. Nice struck first in the second inning with Léa Petit’s productive single before Emma Ledin added another run in the following inning.
Meanwhile, Emma Flayol delivered an outstanding performance on the mound. The Niçoise pitcher held off the Toulouse offense, despite its reputation for scoring quickly.
The turning point came in the fifth inning. With Nice trailing 2-0, the Azuréennes built a five-run attack. Sandra Dymowiez, Emma Ledin, Anaisie Bugna, and Juliette Peculier pressured the Toulouse defense before Sandra Rousselot hit a decisive two-run double. In an instant, the Cavigal took a 6-2 lead.
Toulouse refused to give up, though. The Haut-Garonnaises scored three runs in the sixth inning, thanks in part to Aislinn Provost and Sarah Authier. The gap narrowed to just one run, and the suspense reached its peak. Nice held on to the last out and won 6-5.
The play-by-play available on the FFBS website (though incomplete) highlights that at the plate, Emma Ledin stood out with two hits and two RBIs. Sandra Rousselot delivered the game’s most crucial hit, while Emma Flayol also contributed to the offensive effort.
MVP: Emma Flayol. Eight strikeouts in under four innings, a solid performance at the plate, and constant influence on the game. The Niçoise pitcher carried her team to this crucial first victory.

Game 2: Seventeen Runs to Secure the Stay
If the first game had been close, the second was a full-blown offensive explosion! After a completely wild match, Nice won 17-14 and definitively secured its Division 1 status and a spot in the finals.
The game started at a breakneck pace. Nice scored five times in its first at-bat, thanks in large part to Emma Ledin, Juliette Peculier, and Charlotte Gonfrier. Toulouse responded immediately with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. The tone was set: no pitcher would have an easy night.
The Azuréennes continued their offensive pressure in the second inning with three more runs. Emma Flayol, Anaisie Bugna, and Amandine Bertrand helped the Cavigal pull away. But the Stade Toulousain stayed in the game thanks to its impressive power offense, led by Elodie Legoy, Aislinn Provost, Alix Bidondo, and Camille Lambert-Cervetti.
Several times, Toulouse seemed poised to completely close the gap. The Haut-Garonnaises scored three runs in the third inning, two more in the fourth, and three again in the fifth. But every time the deficit narrowed, Nice found a way to respond.
The sixth inning finally crushed Toulouse’s hopes. Charlotte Gonfrier, Christelle Giret, and Emma Flayol built a four-run inning, pushing Nice’s total to seventeen. Despite Toulouse’s fourteen runs, the Azuréennes maintained control until the end.
The numbers perfectly capture the madness of this game: fourteen hits for Nice, eleven for Toulouse, thirty-one combined runs, and offensives that never stopped trading blows.
Emma Flayol finished with multiple hits and three RBIs. Emma Ledin added two RBIs. Christelle Giret, Charlotte Gonfrier, Anaisie Bugna, Juliette Peculier, and Amandine Bertrand all contributed to the team effort. In relief, Léa Aït Benali also made a key contribution by shutting down Toulouse’s late rally attempts.
MVP: Emma Flayol. Once again decisive at the plate, constantly on base, and involved in key innings, she embodied Nice’s success throughout the weekend.

After these playoffs, the verdict is clear. Grenoble and Nice will keep their Division 1 spots next season. Strasbourg and Toulouse carried the colors of Division 2 proudly, but the two elite teams reminded everyone that experience in big moments is often the best weapon when an entire season hinges on a few games.
