Two matches, two wins: the Pharaonnes of Évry made headlines this weekend by taking control of the final against the Comanches of Saint-Raphaël. At home on Évry’s field, the two teams played the first two rounds of this best-of-five final. And after this first weekend, the score is clear: 2-0 for Évry.

An outcome that was far from expected. To grasp the magnitude of the Pharaonnes’ performance, it must be recalled that the Comanches had never lost a game this season, whether in the regular season or during the Challenge de France. A previously flawless season that the Pharaonnes have now seriously disrupted.

Évry strikes hard from the start

In the first match, the Pharaonnes quickly took control. They gave Saint-Raphaël’s defense no respite. As early as the third inning, Évry scored five runs, then added four more in the next two innings.

The three defensive errors by the Comanches weighed heavily in the balance. Because in terms of hits, both teams were evenly matched with seven hits each. But Évry knew how to turn its opportunities into runs.

A standout moment of the game: Lisa Papoin hit an inside-the-park home run late in the fourth inning, definitively shifting momentum in favor of the Pharaonnes.

The game ended before its scheduled completion, with the Pharaonnes winning by mercy rule.

The Comanches respond… but Évry holds strong

After that first setback, many expected the Comanches to bounce back the next day. The second match was indeed far more competitive. This time, Saint-Raphaël tightened its defense and committed no errors.

But if the defense stepped up, the batters remained surprisingly quiet.

Évry again reached base seven times, while the Comanches managed only two hits. This offensive gap was largely due to the dominant performance of the Pharaonnes’ pitcher, Monagas Tortoleiro. She ruled the mound, recording 10 strikeouts and posting an ERA of 1.08, allowing Évry to maintain control until the end. This time, no mercy rule: the game went the full seven innings, but the result once again favored the Pharaonnes.

Saint-Raphaël can no longer afford mistakes

With two wins in two matches, the Pharaonnes have now secured a commanding lead at home. The final now shifts to Saint-Raphaël, where the Comanches will host Évry next weekend.

And this time, mistakes are no longer an option for Saint-Raphaël’s players. Trailing 2-0 in a best-of-five final, they must win all three remaining home games to turn the situation around and claim the title.

For the Pharaonnes, the situation is the opposite: one more victory will be enough to crown them champions.

Is the Comanches’ perfect season slipping away at the worst possible moment? The answer will come next weekend, in Saint-Raphaël.
