Weekend Matches
Division 1 Baseball: The Final Sprint Begins
The Division 1 baseball season is now the only competition still underway. For other championships, the summer break is in effect or the season has already ended.
Only three matchdays remain, plus a reserve day, totaling eight games for most teams to play. Only La Rochelle and Béziers already have a two-game lead.
While the standings seem to be taking shape, several key questions remain unanswered. The battle for fourth place, which qualifies for the playoffs, is still wide open. Sénart and Toulouse can still dream of making the cut if Rouen doesn’t go undefeated in the final matchdays.
At the bottom of the table, the PUC still holds a slim hope of avoiding relegation. However, the Parisian side will need Béziers to stumble badly, losing at least four of their last six games, for the PUC to overtake them for seventh place.
At the top, the fight for first place promises to spice up the season’s finale. Montpellier, Savigny, and La Rochelle are still in the mix, but the Lions and Barracudas seem best positioned to claim the top spot.
After several weeks marked by scorching heat and absences due to the U18 European Cup, teams are finally at full strength. This weekend’s four matchups are shaping up to be thrilling.

La Rochelle – Montpellier
After being swept by Savigny in the previous round, the Boucaniers can’t afford any more slip-ups, especially in front of their home crowd. If Krzykawiak regains his early-season form and Franklin de la Rosa and Nieves can shut down Montpellier’s hitters, the Rochelais can bounce back. However, the task looks tough against a confident Hérault side.
Prediction: One win for each team.

Toulouse – Rouen
At home, the Tigers usually show a different face and will try to regain their momentum. But the Huskies are on a roll and know that any slip-up could jeopardize their fourth-place standing. The stakes are high for both teams.
Prediction: Split decision.
PUC – Sénart
The Templiers have a great chance to put pressure on Rouen in the playoff race. A doubleheader win is within reach against Parisian side playing for their survival in Division 1, despite having their full squad back.
Prediction: Two wins for Sénart.
Savigny – Béziers
The Lions are on a roll heading into this final stretch. Their doubleheader sweep of La Rochelle confirmed their title ambitions. Béziers could well fall victim to this momentum and allow Savigny to take sole possession of first place if, at the same time, La Rochelle and Montpellier cancel each other out.
Prediction: Two wins for Savigny.

Softball: U22 Aim for Top 8
On the softball side, the women’s U22 team still have a strong hand to play. The goal is clear: finish among the top three teams and cap off the season with a standout performance. The small final takes place this Saturday at 2 PM against the Netherlands, who went undefeated in the group stage. In any case, a superb run by the U22 French women’s softball team, who, like the U18s, will finish in the last four in Europe.
