Weekend Matchday Preview
Some competitions have already reached their verdict, while others are enjoying a summer break, particularly in softball. But baseball is still in full swing. Division 1 is playing its 11th matchday out of 14 this weekend, a crucial stage that could reshuffle the standings before the final sprint. In Division 2, it’s time for make-up games, as the regular season is over, with several major stakes still at play at both the top and bottom of the table.
Division 1 Baseball: Every Win Counts

Paris Hosts Toulouse
The PUC finally secured the statement win everyone was waiting for. After several frustrating defeats on fine margins, the Paris side finally toppled the Rochelle leaders last week, sending a strong message to the championship. Now, they need to back it up.
Toulouse, meanwhile, has seen their playoff ambitions slip away in recent weeks. The Tigers aren’t out of the fight yet, though, and know a strong weekend could reignite their campaign.
Prediction: A split decision.
La Rochelle Travels to Béziers
Under the summer heat, match times have been adjusted, but the pressure won’t let up. Béziers have built a small cushion above the drop zone, but nothing is set in stone. A bad run of results could quickly put the Pirates back under the hammer.
La Rochelle, for their part, had a painful weekend. The Maritime side not only lost one of their two games in heart-stopping fashion, but they also saw Montpellier seize the top spot without breaking a sweat. (Sénart forfeit)
The Rochelle side will be eager to get back on track immediately.
Prediction: Two wins for La Rochelle.
Sénart Hosts Rouen
Two sides with inconsistent form face off this weekend. Sénart has been up and down all season, struggling to find a rhythm. Rouen, usually a title contender, has also failed to hit their stride, though the Huskies remain well placed in the race for the final four.
The Templiers, meanwhile, will be extra motivated after last week’s forfeit, a decision they strongly contest. This is their chance to respond on the field.
Prediction: A split decision.
Montpellier Takes on Savigny
The Barracudas head to Chartres, where they’ll likely appreciate slightly milder temperatures. Since last weekend, the Hérault side has been top of the table, and they’ve got nothing left to prove offensively: they boast the most explosive attack in Division 1.
Savigny showed some promising signs against Toulouse, but the Lions remain unpredictable, capable of the best and the worst from one game to the next. At home, they’ll have a great chance to rattle the leaders.
Prediction: One win for each side.
Division 2 Baseball: The Drama Continues Despite the Regular Season’s End

The first round of make-up games could prove decisive in the final standings. Metz travels to Valenciennes, while Nice hosts Clermont.
The Cavigals have pulled ahead of their rivals, but the situation is deceptive. Metz still has four games in hand and a golden opportunity to close the gap with back-to-back away games against Valenciennes and Ermont. The Messins still have every chance of fighting for the top spot.
Conversely, if Nice sweeps their weekend, the Côte d’Azur side can no longer be caught by Metz.
The suspense no longer really concerns the identity of the top three teams qualifying for the Final Four. The fourth spot will be decided on July 19th in a decisive showdown between Bréal and Meyzieu.
At the bottom of the table, the relegation battle remains wide open. Rouen and Montpellier have finished their seasons. Montpellier can no longer avoid the drop after playing all 18 of their games. Ermont, the current bottom side, is fighting for survival, while Valenciennes can still escape the drop zone and join Rouen in a safe spot.
The next two weekends promise an intense battle between Valenciennes and Ermont to avoid joining Montpellier in the lower division.
