Each weekend brings us closer to the crucial moments of the season. The Division 1 final kicks off, the Division 2 semifinals wrap up. Division 3 begins a month of competition, and the men’s Division 1 softball concludes its regular season.
Division 1

The matchup isn’t surprising. The best regular-season team (Montpellier) faces the Challenge de France champion (Montigny). Each has unique strengths and weaknesses. However, the rosters of both teams share some similarities. A red-hot batter: Brossier for the Barracudas and Dylan Mayeux for Montigny. A top line-up that fills the bases in every matchup. A reliable ace for their game: Lopez for Montigny and Gosselin for Montpellier.
Each team also has different strengths. Montigny has resilience and a relentless drive to win that commands respect. They often win by pushing their opponents to their limits. Yorfrank Lopez serves as a mentor for the entire team. Montpellier has a very strong collective, though weakened by the departure of the « Americans. » Coach Owen Ozanich, however, has the credibility of a great player and can take them far, even pitching himself if needed.

Montpellier has the home-field advantage for games 3 to 5. They aim to return for the second weekend with a split. Montigny can hope to win one game, likely at home, while winning both would be a bonus.
Predictions: A split between the two teams
Division 2

Games 3 to 5 between Béziers and Sénart, and Clermont and Valenciennes, will also take place this weekend. Valenciennes and Béziers have the advantage of playing at home. Based on the first two games and the split, the two future finalists will be those who handle the heat, the depth of the other team’s pitching, and the will to win the championship the best.
Predictions: Valenciennes seem capable of overcoming the Arvernes this year, and Sénart2, with possible D1 reinforcements now unemployed, could also make a difference.

Division 3
This weekend marks the start of Division 3 matches, pitting regional champions from each league against each other. A month of competition begins to determine which club will return to Division 2 next year.
