Mediterranean Games
A celebration of sport and culture
The Mediterranean Games are an international multisport competition that brings together, every four years, the nations bordering the Mediterranean Sea. Created in the spirit of peace, friendship, and cooperation, these games highlight not only sporting excellence but also the rich cultural and historical heritage of the participating countries.

The idea for the Mediterranean Games emerged in the early 1940s, championed by sports and political figures aiming to strengthen ties between Mediterranean countries. The inaugural edition took place in 1951 in Alexandria, Egypt, spearheaded by Muhammad Taher Pacha, a member of the International Olympic Committee. Since then, the Games have been held regularly, alternating between the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean.
Over the decades, the Mediterranean Games have established themselves as a major global sporting event, allowing athletes from countries often underrepresented on the international stage to shine. Today, they feature 26 nations and offer around thirty sports disciplines.

This year, ahead of the games set to take place in August in Taranto, Italy, Baseball5 has been selected as a demonstration sport, alongside kickboxing.

Eight teams have been selected, with France part of Group B alongside Greece, Syria, and Turkey. The All-Star Game ceremony, featuring two French days, took place on July 28th to kick off the tournament.
The French are considered favorites, but nations like Turkey or Spain could spring a surprise. First match this Wednesday at 20:00 against Syria.
