Cuba in disarray

The Cuban baseball team is one of the best in the world. As multiple-time Olympic champions, they’ve often leveraged this status to promote the values of their national sport.

However, recently in Florida, during the Olympic qualifying tournament for Tokyo, Cuba’s team failed to qualify. It’s a national tragedy, a disgrace for the coaching staff and players.

So much so that four players chose not to return home, opting for exile, lured by the bright lights of American life. Of course, this isn’t the first time this has happened, as seen with the most famous defector: Aroldis Chapman, the ace pitcher for the Yankees, who used a tournament in the Netherlands as his opportunity to defect.
