The Dutch got the better of a strong Israeli side at the European Championship. This wasn’t a shock, even if it marked revenge for the Olympic qualifying tournament, where Israel had beaten the same Dutch team.
The final score was 9-4. The Dutch struck first as early as the second inning. Israel tied it up in the fourth and took a 4-1 lead in the sixth. Then the game turned. In the bottom of the seventh, the Dutch tied it at 4-4 with a string of hits. Freed up, the Dutch then pulled away and won 9-4. The turning point came in the seventh inning, when Israel’s pitching showed cracks against a relentless Dutch offense.
