Right in the middle of the World and Nippon Series, it’s time for the horror of an Halloween matchday. Baseball lends itself well to this celebration, especially with the classic image of the clown with a blood-stained bat.
Some French clubs will blend Celtic culture, which crossed the Atlantic and returned at the turn of the century as a marketing event, through various animations on this All Saints’ Day.
When you think of Halloween, you think of horror movies and literature. The Japanese first pitch shown in the video below proves it: a mix of The Ring and The Grudge.
Another thought. The master of suspense, Stephen King, is a huge baseball fan. Several of his works touch on the sport, and he even wrote short stories set in the world of baseball, though they haven’t been translated into French (Blockade Billy). Often, in his novels like ‘IT,’ you’ll find scenes set in the world of baseball. In fact, he’s so passionate about baseball that he even built a baseball field for his children in the city of Bangor, Maine.
Happy Halloween, everyone!
