The film is based on the true story of Rickey Hill, who overcame a physical disability to become a Major League Baseball (MLB) player.
Worldwide release announced for August 18, 2023

Dennis Quaid plays the role of James Hill, an itinerant pastor who exerts excessive influence over Rickey Hill, his son, a baseball prodigy on the field. The pastor thinks he’s protecting the boy due to health issues and fear of how others will treat the young man because of his physical disabilities. But Rickey is determined to overcome these obstacles to achieve his dream of playing professional baseball and make his father proud. The cast includes Colin Ford, Joelle Carter, and country star Randy Houser, as well as Bonnie Bedelia and Scott Glenn.
Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg sealed the deal, committing to screening the film in over 1,000 cinemas on August 18, 2023.
« All members of Briarcliff are thrilled to be part of bringing The Hill to audiences, » said Tom Ortenberg. « The purpose of cinema is to bring real stories to the big screen, such as Rickey Hill’s triumph over some of life’s toughest obstacles. The Hill is an incredible story that will surely captivate audiences worldwide this summer. »
Mr. Celentano said: « I’ve been spiritually and emotionally connected to this project since I got to know Rickey and his family, and what he ultimately achieved. Now, with the Briarcliff team, we’ll be able to share Rickey’s story with as many people as possible. »

Mr. Hill, the real deal, said: « It’s an honor to see my story told this way, with Dennis Quaid and Colin Ford in The Hill. I hope the audience finds inspiration in the portrayal of my life and that it encourages anyone with a physical disability, because loving what you do is the key to a wonderful life. »
