Another beautiful weekend of baseball and softball, likely under sunny skies. Both Division 1 and 2 baseball teams will be in action on Saturday and Sunday, the women’s Superleague softball returns for its second weekend, and the men’s Division 1 softball teams head to Nice.
Division 1 Baseball

Third matchday, we’re starting to get a better sense of the teams’ strengths. The La Rochelle Buccaneers have taken the lead in the championship and host the Cometz this weekend. A chance for them to secure two more wins. The Metz team didn’t play last weekend, just like Montigny. They’ll be eager to replicate their split performance in Montpellier.
Prediction: Two wins for La Rochelle

Toulouse hosts Rouen. The Huskies, who started strong against Sénart in the first matchday, are looking to regroup after their double defeat against La Rochelle. Toulouse, much like La Rochelle, is a team with Latin American players and a coach who shares that culture. Randy Perez, brother of Keino (who long helped Rouen win), has been building up the Tigers since last year.
Prediction: Split between the two teams

Montigny hosts Savigny. After their slow start, the Cougars will be hungry to at least split with the stable Savigny team, led by Ivan Acuna, who will also rally his troops with his usual home run.
Prediction: Split between the two teams

Finally, Sénart travels to Montpellier. Off to a rough start, they’ll aim to at least upset the Barracudas in one game. However, the latter will want to regain their form and reclaim their rightful spot at the top of the standings.
Prediction: Two wins for Montpellier.

Division 2 Baseball

Fourth matchday, where everything happens on Sunday. Valenciennes leads Pool A and travels to Thiais. Béziers leads Pool B and hosts Eysines. The PUC hosts Ronchin, and Nice travels to Meyzieu. These four teams have a great chance to solidify their positions at the top of the standings.
The Sénart 2 and Rouen 2 teams will also have opportunities to secure wins against Bréal and La Guerche, respectively. Anglet hosts Clermont and will have their work cut out to stay in the race.
Today, five teams (Béziers, Clermont, Nice, PUC, Valenciennes) seem to stand out, but Rouen and Sénart might just play spoilers.

Superleague Softball

Return of the top 30 players in the country. This is their second weekend, and they’ll meet in Colombes on the Wild Cards’ field. The three teams are named after the top three individual champions from the first matchday: Teams Simon, Brouard, and Derbal. Six games to score points and win this mini individual championship.

Round-robin format in Nice.

Fifth matchday. Montpellier is already leading and might just dominate the competition by recruiting an ace pitcher in Victor Guedez, pitcher for the Venezuelan national team.
