With just two matchdays left in the Division 1 women’s softball championship before the playoffs, it’s time for the Challenge De France.
The baseball edition concluded last weekend, and this Pentecost weekend brings the women’s softball challenge, which will take place over three days from June 4th to 6th.
Five teams will face off on the field in Saint-Raphaël. The Comanches, who won the first two editions in 2018 and 2019, will be there. Next up is the Evry Courcouronnes team, which won last year’s challenge. Finally, Clapiers Jacou, Pessac, and Grenoble make up the other three teams.
In 2023, the winner of this 2022 edition will be present at the Women’s European Softball Cup.
Based on the championship results, the Pharaonnes of Evry Courcouronnes seem to be the favorites to win a second consecutive year. They boast a perfect 10-0 record. Their batting average is impressive, with three players in the top 10 averages above .500. If you look at the best performances in home runs and triples, for example, they’re all Pharaonnes. One player stands out in particular: Chiara ENRIONE-THOR.
However, the Comanches and the Rabbits are hot on their heels with 8 wins in 10 matches.
Of course, the format of the Challenge De France changes the game, as the depth of the pitchers and the pool of hitters dwindle as the rounds progress, and you have to hold on until the final, which will be held on Monday, June 6th at 1 PM.
The matches will be broadcast via the switchlive app on the Challenge De France women’s Facebook page. here
