We are watching in disbelief as one country annexes another. While it is not our place to comment on such events in this application, it is hard to remain indifferent in the face of one man’s and a few others’ warmongering that is terrorizing all of Europe.
The Ukrainian Baseball and Softball Federation was founded in 1992. Before that, Ukrainian baseball teams competed in the USSR baseball championship since 1989. For the first time, the Ukrainian national baseball team participated in an international tournament in 1994 during the European Championship qualifiers in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Regarding the men’s national baseball team, it has regularly participated in the European Championship since the beginning of the 21st century. It has been steadily improving in the world rankings since 2012 and is now the 29th-ranked nation.

You can watch their last match in 2021 during the European Nations Cup in Italy (against Slovakia) on the following Baseballsoftballtv link: here
Many Ukrainians play baseball. Just last week, the country hosted its first national baseball 5 championship in the city of Kropyvnytskyi, a city still spared from bombings today (located between Kiev and the Black Sea).
From November 10 to 11, 2021, in Kiev (Pushcha-Vodytsya), the final matches of the Ukrainian School Baseball League took place indoors, under the patronage of the President of the Ukrainian Baseball and Softball Federation, Nikolayenko Andriy Ivanovych. Six teams participated in the competition: Secondary School No. 8 (Rivne), Secondary School No. 111 (Kiev Region), Secondary School No. 37 (Kropyvnytskyi), Secondary School No. 2 (Vypasne Village, Odessa Region), Secondary School III. MMT (Mykolaiv), Secondary School No. 332 (Kiev).

There has been no activity on the Ukrainian Federation’s Facebook page since February 15.
We will think of the President of the Ukrainian Federation, Mr. Andrey NYKOLAENKO, and the community of passionate baseball and softball enthusiasts who will be deprived of their activities and the pleasure of playing in peace…
But above all, of living in peace…
