The scorching heat significantly disrupted the weekend’s schedule, leading to several cancellations. Among them, the first games of the Division 1 men’s softball final, now postponed to next weekend.
In Division 2 baseball, only one match could take place. In Montpellier, Rouen suffered a heavy defeat against the Barracudas (22-9). The first game of the series, however, does not seem to have been played.
In Division 1, Montpellier pulled off an excellent performance on Béziers’ turf, winning twice against the Pirates. A real blow for the Biterrois, unable to stop the offensive power of the Barracudas.
The first game of this double confrontation was indeed played. Montpellier won 8-6 thanks to a prolific offense of 13 hits, but also to the three defensive errors of the Pirates. At the end of the game, relief pitcher Ben Couvreur delivered an exceptional performance by striking out eight batters in the last three innings, sealing the success of the Héraultais.

The second match followed a similar script. The Pirates completely collapsed in the seventh inning, conceding six runs, after already giving up seven in the sixth inning of the first game. A collapse from which they never recovered. Montpellier once again showed remarkable offensive consistency with 13 hits. On the Biterrois side, five pitchers took turns on the mound without managing to stop the opposing attack. The ten walks allowed also weighed heavily, despite the nine conceded by the Barracudas. Yanez Mora de Beziers’ solid performance, author of a double and a home run, was not enough to reverse the trend.
Thanks to this double in Béziers, Montpellier pulls off a very nice operation in the standings and consolidates its third place.
