The championship is officially underway. After just two matchups in late March, last weekend saw 12 teams in action with no postponements. Every squad has now kicked off their campaign.
As always, no clear trends are visible yet. However, the Tigers de Thiais have made a strong start with three wins in four games. The usual contenders have all begun well: Clermont and Béziers each secured two victories, against La Rochelle and Anglet respectively. Notably, Béziers scored 20 runs in their second match. The arrival of Cesar Chacin, the Hungarian reinforcement, and American pitcher Nick Dazell has bolstered their collective performance. Valenciennes, as an outsider, split their results with Rouen in a tightly contested first match favoring the Normandy side. Sénart has started powerfully, dominating Dunkerque with a combined 30-0 score over two games.
The standings aren’t yet representative. Only three teams remain winless: Anglet, La Rochelle, and Eysines. Given their rosters and scores, it’s reasonable to think their lineups aren’t fully clicking yet. The cold weather, damp fields, and heavy conditions haven’t been conducive to high-quality play.

This upcoming weekend should provide more clarity about the season’s trajectory. The two heavyweights of Division 2, based on past results—Clermont and Béziers—will face off. This clash will help gauge which team is in better form. La Guerche de Bretagne, which had a bye last weekend, will take on the powerful Sénart side, presenting a true challenge. They split their first round against Dunkerque, narrowly winning the second game, and will now face a Sénart team that thoroughly dominated Dunkerque last weekend. The three winless teams—La Rochelle, Eysines, and Anglet—must step up, especially La Rochelle and Eysines, who meet this weekend. Anglet hosts Meyzieu, while the Tigers welcome the Korvers de Dunkerque.
Valenciennes will have a bye this weekend.
