When you look into the Normandy champions and finish your overview, you quickly realize you’re dealing with one of the biggest fish in French baseball history.
As far back as we can go (1931), organized French baseball has never seen such dominance. Or almost… Only the « Pucistes » of the « Paris University Club » did better than the Huskies. In fifty years (1964-2014), the PUC participated in thirty-two finals (the last in 2014) and finished twenty-two times as champions (last title 2000).
Since 2003, the year of their first national title, Rouen Baseball 76 has firmly held onto its 16 titles. It’s simple, they’ve won all their finals appearances since 2003 (semifinalists in 2014 and 2004 and different format in 2020).

The 16 Normandy titles.
So, « uncle, » tell me, on paper what do the Huskies look like?
A machine.
What emanates from this team, and has for almost 20 seasons now, is unshakable solidity. Like a force, a class passed down from generation to generation. You can’t just say: yes, the Huskies are very strong. They’re just enormous. So yes, from time to time the Rouen sled leaves the path of victories. But the trajectory is always ultimately mastered.
Alright, some numbers:
In 2021, in 25 games, 18W and 7L, the pack is in fifth place for AVG: .254 (first Sénart .279)
The strong point this year 2021 was undoubtedly the defense. An average of .961 and 35 errors.
The mound was huge with a 2.28 ERA, 253 strikeouts and 126 BB. An opposing average of only .199. Remember Camacho (1.24 ERA; 5-1) – Prioul (1.64; 7-3) – Moulin (2.03; 4-2)
Fan or not, you can only admire historical players like Bert, Lefevre, Vissac, Dagneau, Gleeson, Blondel… Never give up and offer a fighting baseball. And what about the former: Perez, Marche, Piquet, Hagiwara …

Above: Luc Piquet, the legendary Rouen second baseman.
It’s Marche’s turn to write the 2022 page in the Huskies’ book of honor, composed by a team strengthened for the occasion by the Venezuelan Javier Hernandez 26 years old (C), Yeudi Garcia 28 years old (REP DOC, P), Ricardo Andujar 29 years old (REP DOC, SS 3B) William Moscato 23 years old (F-USA, P). Camacho flew to Mexico.
My friends, playball is this weekend. The D1 championship finally resumes, on the scheduled date.
Who will be the 2022 champion?
May the most impetuous, the toughest, the most joyful win this new championship.
Vincent Picard
