D1 – D2 Play-off, play-down.
Climbing to the top tier is the dream of many clubs. Relegation is the nightmare of others. A look ahead to the end of August, which promises an emotionally charged September.
As the D1 season nears its final act (barring the French Challenge), the D2 championship continues full steam ahead. With its 6th round approaching, it features four regional pools of four teams each. The D2 final winner will earn a shot at promotion to D1. Meanwhile, in D1, the leaders are gearing up for the final showdowns (the top two in each standings), with Rouen, Savigny, Sénart and Montpellier leading the charge. The rest of the clubs will have to fight tooth and nail to avoid relegation to the second division. Back to D2: the finalists will be the top two from each pool. The current leaders are Rouen 2, PUC 2, Bréal sous Montfort and Béziers. In the tight race for second place, it’s anyone’s game between Dunkerque or Ronchin, Thiais or Meyzieu, Sénart 2, Saint Aubin du Médoc or Montpellier 2. Three more regular rounds remain in the second division championship.
