The European club adventure: the CEB Cup will once again be held in France.
In 2021, Sénart hosted this tournament and finished second, with only one French team participating as the Rouen Huskies competed in the European Champions Cup. The Huskies lost that competition and even finished last. This means no French team will be represented in the European Champions Cup in 2022 (it will be held in Bonn, Germany, from June 7 to 11, 2022).
Back to the 2021 CEB Cup, it was the BORI BRNO team that emerged victorious after an epic final against Sénart, who finished second. Relive the best moments: here
In 2022, two French teams will compete in this European B Cup, the CEB Cup: the Montpellier Barracudas, winners of the French Challenge, and the Rouen Huskies (relegated to the European B Cup) as champions of the French Division 1.
From June 6 to 12, 2022, the clubs of Rouen and Montigny-le-Bretonneux will host this tournament. Eight teams will compete, including two French sides. Montigny field: ![]()
If COVID-19 doesn’t disrupt the season as it did in 2021 or prevent foreign players from coming to France in March, the two French teams will have a shot at the title.
In 2019, the Montigny Cougars finished third in this competition. In 2018, the Sénart Templiers finished fourth, and in 2017, they finished third. We think of the Sénart team, who won’t compete in the 2022 CEB Cup despite their steady progress over the past four years.
We’re back to the 2016 setup, where the Huskies and Barracudas, who were competing, took first and second place. That year marked the creation of this competition. Let’s hope for a repeat in 2022 and see French teams back on top of European competitions.
