Baseball and softball: a pivotal weekend in the playoff race
The season has entered a unique phase, caught between challenges and international competitions. Several matchups have been moved up in recent weeks, somewhat disrupting the standings. In this context, each division continues its journey, but this weekend, only the Division 1 Baseball and Men’s Division 1 Softball championships will be on the schedule. D2 Baseball is on a break, as is Women’s D1 Softball.
Division 1 Baseball
While Béziers and PUC now seem out of the playoff race, the other six teams remain fully engaged in the battle for qualifying spots.

Montpellier – Rouen: a showdown that’s lost some of its luster
At the start of the season, this clash was billed as the championship’s marquee matchup. Yet, as things stand, Montpellier sits in fourth place while Rouen is fifth. A simple split of the series wouldn’t do either team any favors.
The Montpellier side has shown solid form at home, and it’s hard to imagine the Rouen team leaving with a sweep.
Prediction: split series.
Savigny – Sénart: the Templars face a Lion threat
The Savigny Lions host at Chartres, a venue they know well, while the Sénart Templars are less familiar with the surroundings. Tied for first place with La Rochelle, the Sénart side will be eager to continue their excellent run.
With strong offensive and defensive arguments, they seem capable of securing at least one win to stay firmly in the top of the standings.
Prediction: split series.
PUC – Béziers: the last-chance game
This clash between the two bottom teams is crucial for the Paris side. Still searching for a spark, PUC must take advantage of hosting Béziers to finally kickstart their season.
The Béziers team has already secured the essentials by moving closer to safety, but they’ll also look to solidify their position. For the Paris side, the goal will also be to avoid those frustrating late-game collapses that have cost them several wins since the start of the season.
Prediction: PUC sweep.
Toulouse – La Rochelle: watch out for the Boucaniers trap
Full of confidence, the Rochelle side enters a traditionally trickier phase of their season. Facing them, the Toulouse Tigers know that a sweep would bring them level with the leaders.
The gap between first and sixth place remains extremely narrow, proof of a championship tighter than ever. This series could reshuffle several cards in the playoff race.
Prediction: split series.

Men’s Division 1 Softball
The top and bottom pools play their third matchday this weekend.
Top pool: Contes in a strong position
Leaders of the standings, Contes host Nogent, the current bottom team in the pool. On paper, the Côte d’Azur side has a great opportunity to solidify their lead.
In the other matchup, Nice and Évry, both mid-table, will try to close the gap on the top. However, the forces at play seem very evenly matched.
Prediction: Contes sweep and a split between Nice and Évry.
Bottom pool: Toulouse and Grenoble seek a breakthrough
Toulouse host Grenoble in a clash already crucial for both teams’ futures. A sweep would give one of the two competitors an interesting option to move away from the bottom of the table.
At home, the Toulouse side seems to have a slight advantage.
Prediction: Toulouse advantage.
Rouen and PUC are on a break.
