Talent knows no age. A French teenager is set to embark on an American adventure with the Cincinnati Reds.
BTVF – Who are you, Jordan Ouanyou?
Hello, I’m Jordan OUANYOU, I’m 17 years old, I’m from Paris, and I just graduated from high school!

BTVF – Can you summarize your baseball career for us?
I started playing baseball at the age of 5 at the Paris Université Club. I was part of the French national teams U12, U15, and U18. I also participated twice in the MLB European camps, which bring together the top 90 prospects in Europe. I also went through the Montpellier Pôle Espoir (3 years) and then the Pôle France in Toulouse (2 years).

BTVF – How did the first contact with the Cincinnati Reds go?
I was spotted at the U18 European Championships, where I had good performances. Then, last September, I participated in an MLB camp in Arizona. The Reds’ scout liked my profile and later invited me to a mini-camp in the Dominican Republic, at the Reds’ academy.

BTVF – What are the concrete offers you have signed with the American team?
I signed a 6-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds. I’m leaving France with the Challenge de France with the Lions de Savigny in my luggage.

BTVF – What are the next steps you would like to achieve now?
My goal is to progress as quickly as possible to gradually move up through the different Reds teams (ACL, Rookie League…) to, one day, reach the MLB!

BTVF – What can we wish you?
Courage, success, as well as recognition and good development of French baseball!
