When comics take on baseball: a Franco-Dutch success story that captivates young fans!
What if comics could become the secret weapon to ignite young people’s passion for baseball, softball, and Baseball5? That’s the bold bet taken up in 2021 by illustrator Fabrice Tribes and writer Didier Cannioux. Together, they bring to life Nathan and Camille, two young heroes plunged into the world of bat sports.
Their adventures, initially released in digital format, naturally find their place on the official website of the French Baseball Federation. here A dynamic format, engaging characters: that’s all it took to grab the attention of a teenage audience often hard to hook.

But the story doesn’t end there. In 2025, convinced by the potential of this playful and educational approach, the Dutch Baseball Federation steps in. Goal? Adapt this comic to its own cultural context. Nathan becomes Jayden, Camille transforms into Carice, a few jerseys change colors, and there you have our two protagonists ready for a new life, this time in the Netherlands. Cherry on top: the comic crosses the digital divide to come to life in paper form, now for sale on the Dutch federation’s website.
The official launch doesn’t go unnoticed. here At a youth-focused fair, the Dutch coordinator of this orange and blue adventure, Wytze Veenstra, presents the work to a crowd of young fans. Result? A nice buzz on social media and a new sports promotion tool that’s a hit with teens.

And this might just be the beginning. Already, the authors and the federations are dreaming bigger: why not imagine new adventures for Jayden and Carice? A more fleshed-out sequel in Dutch seems to be in the works… which, one day, might just make the return trip for a new French adaptation. A true editorial home run that proves sports and culture make an excellent duo to conquer young minds.
