The clash between the 2022 France Challenge champions from Grenoble and the recent France Challenge champions, the Pharaonnes d’Evry, lived up to all expectations.
The Grizzlys pulled off the feat of winning both of their matches. The last two-game meeting had been split between the two teams. This time, after winning the first match by a narrow margin, the Grenoble side kept their composure and a plethora of hits allowed them to pocket both games.

Meanwhile, another surprise saw Paris and Clappiers split their two matches. A tightly contested second match in favor of BCF gives them a glimmer of hope in the standings.
Finally, the Comanches made short work of Cavigal, easily and convincingly winning both of their matches.
In the overall standings, the Grenoble side reaffirmed their dominance, just like last year, and kept Clappier, St Raphael, and Evry at bay. The four teams boast a batting average well above .300, clearly showing that hitting is paramount in women’s softball, almost more so than pitching. Ines Haudiquer and Pauline Prade individually boast batting stats above .600. Meanwhile, on the pitching side, Eidy Tortolero and Clelia Coste are the only ones with an ERA below 2.00.
Across all matches this season among the six teams, there’s been a dozen home runs, averaging one per game.

The next two weekends will be dedicated to a 7th matchday that shouldn’t bring any notable changes to the standings. And in early July, it will be time for the third weekend of the Super League, which will have a Japanese touch. Indeed, coach Ogaki Minamo from the JD professional women’s softball league will be accompanied by three players to lead pitching and batting clinics.
