A quick rundown of this weekend’s baseball action.
Division 1 Baseball
Three doubleheaders.

The surprises
La Rochelle kept their perfect season alive, slowing down Rouen’s Huskies in their quest for a win. Tight scores, top-tier baseball with no errors, great hits, and strong pitching from both JFL and non-JFL players.

Toulouse handed Sénart another loss, who failed to get on the board. We expected a home stand surge from the Templiers, but it never materialized.
The expected

Montpellier and Savigny split their series, with Savigny edging out Montpellier in run differential. Clearly, Montpellier isn’t the same powerhouse they were in 2023.

The standings have La Rochelle and Toulouse on top. Even if Metz or Montigny had played, it wouldn’t have changed their positions, unlike the rest of the teams.
Division 2 Baseball

The surprises
Bréal picked up two big wins against Thiais, who didn’t see this comeback from a former Division 2 team returning this year.
Nice flexed their muscles against Clermont-Ferrand. It’s a bit of a surprise, as the Nice side belongs in D2 and is usually near the top of the table.
The expected
Béziers brought the heat on the road against Meyzieu, returning with two wins.
Anglet couldn’t contain Eysines, who proved their Aquitaine supremacy.

Valenciennes managed to contain the PUC’s firepower, splitting their series and staying atop their pool.
Sénart made quick work of La Guerche. Rouen split with Ronchin.

Valenciennes and Béziers are setting the pace in the standings. We’ll have to wait and see how the other teams stack up.
Division 1 Women’s Softball

The surprises
Grenoble took a heavy loss to Evry, with lopsided scores.
The expected
Saint-Raphaël continued their 2024 dominance, quickly distancing themselves from the Nice side in the innings.
A logical split between Pessac and Clapiers.

The standings have the Comanches still undefeated and looking strong this year.

Division 1 Men’s Softball

No surprises based on the early results from the other fields. This final matchday in Toulouse offers a two-tiered standings, with the top two (Montpellier and Pessac) and the bottom two (Toulouse and Nice) already struggling.
