The Centre-Val de Loire region covers a fairly large area. It includes cities like Chartres, Bourges, Contres, Olivet, and Joué les Tours. The oldest fans will remember the Djoboo’s from Contres… The region has gathered a significant number of true talents, passionate and even die-hard fans!
Bourges: Since its creation in 1992 by a handful of passionate high school students from Bourges, the Bourges baseball club has been dedicated to promoting the sport and developing its practice in the Cher department (18). Annual softball tournament, regional senior championship. A 12U and 15U team and softball.
Joué les Tours: The first traces of the Coyotes date back to 1987. Since then, they’ve claimed 14 regional championships. Over 31 years, the Joué les Tours baseball club has built a thrilling history. Seven times qualified for N2, in 1999 the club reached the N1 level. After some field issues, the club returned to the regional championship in 2001.
Chartres: Led today by the charismatic Manu Préveaux, the club was founded on April 14, 1986. Long managed by Thomas Crosnier, who was the sole coach for both the seniors and cadets teams, the club managed to join the National baseball championship for two seasons (in the early 1990s). In 1999, a new management team took over. At that time, the club developed softball by recruiting women. This discipline saw tremendous success as the mixed softball team achieved excellent national results (3rd in the French championship finals in 2003, 2005, and 2006). Since May 11, 2005, the Cubs have had an exceptional field located in Gellainville. In 2009, the senior baseball team participated in the N2 championship, finishing as runners-up in France. This run allowed the team to reach the N1 championship. In 2012, the team was crowned French National 1 champions. They then joined the Division 2 championship and won the French D2 title in 2013, gaining access to the French Division 1 championship. 8-time regional baseball champions (Centre) and 4-time regional mixed softball champions, the « Frenchies » have built an impressive record: The club has organized several major national and even European events:
- August 2007: French Championship (Division 1) final
- May 2015: France Challenge (Division 1)
- June 2015: European Champions Cup (with PUC)
- May 2016: European Champions Cup (with Rouen)
- July 2016: European 15U Championship
- Don’t forget the organization of the 2021 D3 finals…
Manu Préveaux.
Olivet: The club was founded on February 13, 1986, by a group of friends who had just turned 18. The Red Castors club quickly grew, supported and encouraged by the Mayor of Olivet. The Donjon domain, well-known in the 1990s, hosted some major events, such as national selections. The club played in N1A in 1996. In 1990, on October 20 and 21, the Red Castors organized the « Tournoi de France, » a French-style « All Star Game » bringing together the 60 best French players from N1B, N2, and N3. The tournament was a huge success. A second « Tournoi de France » was organized, and a third in 1992. The club then ranked among the top 16 French teams, with around 120 licensed players divided into 6 teams (Soft, first minors team, cadets, juniors, seniors 1 in N1B, and 2). The club aimed to reach N1A (the top 8), continued to recruit, train young international players, and finally attempted the ultimately failed twinning with Olivet Nazarene University near Chicago, Illinois, USA. In 1995, they reached the N1A, the elite of French baseball. Since 2013, the club has played in the regional league. In 2019-2020, a beautiful tournament gathered 6 teams: Bourges, Chartres, Joué-les-Tours, Le Havre, Le Mans/Saint Barthélémy d’Anjou, and Olivet. The club also trains U9, U12, and U15 teams. Since 2017, since 2013, the most motivated 15U players can be loaned to the Chartres team to participate in the IDF championship.
