Baseball – Division 1
Scorching heat, upsets, and drama in the 10th round
Under sweltering conditions, Division 1 fields witnessed a weekend as intense as it was surprising. Four doubleheaders set the pace for the 10th round, kicking off Saturday with a gesture of solidarity: the first pitches were thrown in honor of Lou Gehrig Day, supporting the fight against ALS.

Savigny dominant, La Rochelle stages a comeback
The Savigny Lions didn’t hold back: a swift 10-0 victory over Metz in seven innings (mercy rule) puts them in a strong position. Meanwhile, the Montpellier Barracudas had to dig deep to edge out the Béziers Pirates in an 11-inning thriller (9-6).
In Toulouse, the Tigers capitalized on a weakened Sénart side to pull off a nail-biter in nine innings.
But the day’s biggest upset came from La Rochelle: the Buccaneers, struggling all game, found a way to tie it up before smashing a walk-off homer to end their losing streak.

Sunday: Confirmation and battles across the board
In more comfortable conditions, La Rochelle kept up the momentum. Trailing again, the Buccaneers capitalized on Huskies’ errors to snatch victory at the last, securing a crucial doubleheader win in the race for fourth. Notably, the game featured three home runs.
Toulouse nearly pulled off a repeat, but Sénart forced extra innings (10th inning) to keep the playoff race wide open.
Béziers made a statement by toppling Montpellier, the league leaders. A win that firmly throws the Pirates back into the mix for the final two playoff spots. Meanwhile, Savigny cemented their dominance with another win over Metz (10-7), pushing the Cometz into the danger zone.

Standings: Montpellier and Rouen continue to lead the championship. Behind them, a tight pack of five teams battles for the final two playoff spots. Metz sits at the bottom and must quickly turn things around to avoid relegation.
