Baseball – Division 1: A rocky weekend, with postponements, errors, and uncertainty
The fourth matchday of Division 1 left a bitter taste. Two games—those of Toulouse and La Rochelle—could not take place due to weather conditions, once again delaying clarity in an already murky standings. The championship is limping along, much like its unstable rosters.

On the fields, the spectacle wasn’t always there. The level of play is concerning. Errors galore, free bases, passed balls in repetition, and players out of position—Yvan Acuna, lined up as the starting pitcher for Savigny, is a prime example—show the growing difficulties of the clubs. Financial struggles, injuries, limited rosters, or players unavailable for two days… roster stability has become a luxury.
Even the reliable players are faltering: Yorfrank Lopez, previously undefeated on the mound, conceded his first loss to Montpellier. Amid this chaos, only Rouen stands out, winning twice against Metz, not with brilliance, but by making fewer errors.
The standings are fragmented. Metz (1 win), Savigny, and Béziers (2 wins each) are at the bottom, already struggling. At the top, the other six teams are neck and neck, trapped in a tight race between hope and doubt.
Yet, a few bright spots emerge: in Béziers, despite the losses, Pilar and Meza are among the leaders in batting average and RBIs. Proof that the dynamic could shift as soon as errors become rarer. The same goes for Metz.
On the broadcasting front, progress is slow but real. Sénart offers great images, though without commentary. In Metz, the shots are static, and the commentary is limited to the batters, with some technical issues. Savigny attempts a first broadcast… with a smartphone too far away to offer real immersion.
In short, a weekend of disorganization more than dominance. Division 1 is still searching for its rhythm.
We’ll return with a detailed look at this fourth matchday.
