The dynamic duo, Mike and Guillaume from the podcast A Coup Sur, have kept us on the edge of our seats with American and French baseball for three years. Beneath the surface of their ritual segments and unfiltered camaraderie, they dissect the serious and not-so-serious news from the baseball world.
A myriad of guests have graced their show with interviews on a variety of topics. A constant theme: humor and an unchanging style mixed with derision, teasing, self-deprecation, and sometimes unbelievable bets or predictions. They’ve also taken detours with episodes like ‘Bénévoles de bases’ or ‘Compte plein’.
Every week, the task for these volunteers is immense as they cover the past week’s news and dissect upcoming topics. They’ve had laughs, serious guests, others less so, they admit their mistakes, their lack of preparation at times. All of this makes for a mix of good humor, great finds, and for us listeners, a delightful listening experience that leaves a pleasant taste in our ears!

Upon hearing about Bruce Bochy’s visit, they had geared up for the possibility of interviewing him. They didn’t manage to approach the star as they had hoped. However, they extensively covered his visit and his very brief stay in France. Their ritual includes a ‘silly question’ at the end of their podcast, as they call it. This involves getting their guest to say something absurd to lighten the mood at the end of an interview if needed. The Baseball TV France editorial team asked them what they had prepared for this segment. Here’s what you missed and what didn’t happen but would have surely brought us all joy to hear.
Questions from Guillaume to Bruce Bochy: What would the two commentators have done if they had been in the manager’s shoes, and consequently, what would he have done if he had been a podcast commentator?
Questions from Mike to Bruce Bochy: I would have asked him to sing the Marseillaise and, while at it, I would have asked him to dish out a few insults about the French national team players, like who eats poorly, the worst dancer…
We wish them fair winds and a long life for all their future podcasts. We’ll catch up with them on Baseball TV France when they commentate on the France Challenge in Sénart this year.
