Traditionally held over Ascension Thursday weekend, the France Baseball Challenge kicks off tomorrow. Four days of action to decide the champion, who will earn a spot in the European Cup. Play unfolds across two fields: Templiers Stadium and Limeil-Brévannes.

Last year, Rouen’s Huskies triumphed in the final against Savigny, sweeping the title and European Cup B. This year, the early-season standings suggest a different story.
This competition introduces two key differences for participating clubs: a deep pitching staff and seven-inning games. With matches coming fast, teams must manage their pitchers carefully, especially with some still competing abroad. The shorter format demands quick scoring.

The eight teams kick off with opening-day clashes: Sénart vs. Rouen, Savigny vs. Toulouse, Metz vs. La Rochelle, and Montigny vs. Montpellier. The first round-robin phase will set the stage for Saturday’s semifinals and Sunday’s finals.

Who are the top contenders?
Defending champs Rouen may not be at their best, but they’re ready to bounce back. Their pitching staff is stacked, with replacements for any weak links.
Hosts Sénart have started strong, though their pitching depth isn’t as impressive. Their opener against Rouen will set the tone.

Metz and La Rochelle open their campaign. Neither typically eyes the title, but both aim for strong showings. Their pitching depth may hold them back.
Montpellier and Montigny clash in the opener. Montpellier boasts a deeper pitching staff and eyes a repeat of their 2021 triumph.

Finally, Savigny and Toulouse meet. Last year, Toulouse simply aimed for a strong run, but this season, they’re in it to win it.
Over four days, elite pitchers like Priest, Rojas, Prioul, Moulin, Nieves, Lopez, Launay, and Canelon will face power hitters like Dagneau, Acuna, Belen-Fanhoni, Mizuno, Mendoza, and Hanvi—and that’s just the start.
Matches will be broadcast, and we’ll keep you updated.
