In 2016, the first book that brings together two worlds was released: cinema and sport. In 2022, the two authors, Gérard and Julien CAMY, expanded their work with new references. Over five hundred pages to narrate in alphabetical order the vast majority of films about all existing or invented sports.
You will find exhaustively all the major films, then many others ranging from good to the worst. You will travel through all global cultures, countries where one sport is more represented than another. You will share the tastes and colors of the greats in sports and cinema. The two worlds share many common points; cinema captures the individual and collective emotions of sports during competitions or matches and tells, elevates them.

An extraordinary team
Through history, both great and small, cinema dresses up what surrounds sports in its backstage, confrontations with the public, the media world, the fans… Cinema crystallizes the great advances, the big scandals, the small intrigues, and the great rifts. A bible for all lovers of sports, cinema, and both.
Of course, many sports are poorly represented because cinema does not aim to cover the exhaustiveness of historical, existing, or future sports. This collection or dictionary is made by two French authors, and their sports culture seeps through the entire book. Each sport is treated the same way: an introduction explaining the sport, its context, and its culture, then comes the masterpiece of that sport, followed by a chronological list of films, including second-tier films and true flops.
The three most represented and adored sports by cinema are undoubtedly football, American football, and baseball.

Mr Baseball
Yes, baseball holds a very important place in cinema, of course American, but also Asian and even Cuban. If we add cricket, cinema becomes a fan of bat sports. The two authors have approached baseball through a distinctly French lens. They first sought help from French baseball experts: Gaétan Alibert, Stephen Lesfargues, Raina Hunter, and players like Frédéric Hanvi or Andy Paz. Then, they tackled baseball thematically, with films about the Hall of Fame, American segregation, women…

Dream of a Champion
It’s a true bible that will make you want to search for different film references on platforms and streaming services online. Of course, only cinema is covered; this book does not address series or documentaries. For a passionate or a lover of this sport, it’s a real opportunity to illustrate their sport with great names from cinema.
We’ll talk about it again for the Christmas list, but it’s a must-have
