On this Saturday, July 30th, while the Netherlands’ softball team claimed the European crown, the Division 1 baseball playoffs and relegation matches kicked off in France.
On the relegation side
As expected but with some struggles, the Sénart team managed to tie the game in the eighth inning before finally snatching a 8-7 victory over Metz. The second match is scheduled for Sunday at 11 AM, with a third if necessary at 2 PM, broadcast on Baseball TV France.
Montigny hosted Toulouse, and there was a big surprise as the Toulouse side came out swinging with a 7-4 win. Although the two teams didn’t face each other this year, the gap in standings and wins in their respective pools suggested Montigny would easily dispatch Toulouse. The second match is scheduled for Sunday at 11 AM, with a third if necessary at 2 PM.

On the playoff side
Rouen hosted the Montpellier Barracudas. Gomez faced Canelon on the mound. It took until the eighth inning for the Huskies to score the two runs that sealed their victory, thanks to a triple by Dagneau. Game 2 is today at 2 PM, broadcast on Baseball TV France.
Finally, on the Atlantic coast, La Rochelle fell 3-2 to the formidable Savigny team. Nieves and Costes battled it out for a long time. A second-inning error cost the Rochelais two runs, which they couldn’t make up even late in the game. The second match is scheduled for Sunday at 12 PM, broadcast on Baseball TV France.
