Italy clinched the 2022 U-22 Women’s European Softball Championship with a hard-fought 2-3 victory over the Czech Republic in the final at Kunovice, Czech Republic.
This is Italy’s second straight title, adding to their 2018 triumph in Trnava, Slovakia. The Azzurre’s softball supremacy is a direct result of their baseball academy, which consistently churns out Europe’s finest talent.
The Czech side finished as runners-up, once again demonstrating their European dominance both on the field and in tournament organization.
In the bronze medal match, the Netherlands needed just five innings to secure third place, leaving Spain in fourth.
France’s young squad claimed fifth place, continuing their ascent in European softball. Supported by French clubs that nurture, back, and give them opportunities in both softball and baseball, the French system is clearly on the rise, as evidenced by this U22 performance.
Results, statistics, and standings are available on the WBSC Europe website.
