This championship, featuring 16 teams as last year, will kick off on April 10th, alongside Division 1.
For some clubs, Division 2 is their reserve team, while for others, it’s their highest level with aspirations to rise to Division 1. In 2021, five teams were reserve squads. That means they don’t aim to win the championship, or if they did, they couldn’t promote to Division 1. Instead, their goal is to avoid relegation and finish outside the bottom two in the standings. Of the 16 teams in 2022, six are reserve squads this year.
In 2021, Béziers won the championship against finalists Thiais but chose not to promote to Division 1. Meanwhile, Clermont Ferrand, in Division 1, decided to drop down to Division 2.

The Pirates of Béziers, Division 2 French Champions
Saint Aubin de Médoc won’t continue in Division 2, while two teams are relegated: La Guerche de Bretagne and the Patriots de Paris. Two new clubs join: La Rochelle and Anglet.
The championship will consist of six matchdays, with three home and three away games. Then, three mixed-pool matchdays will follow. A two-month summer break will lead into the playoffs and relegation playoffs starting September 11th, culminating in a best-of-three final on October 1st and 2nd.
This championship follows the same rules as Division 1 regarding wooden bats and the number of foreign players on the field. However, it’s more conducive to fielding French players. The majority of players from the Poles compete here if they’re not part of Division 1.
We will broadcast all matches organized by the clubs on the Baseball TV France app.
