The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. (KONAMI) have launched WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS, the official WBSC video game in over 60 countries on the PlayStation™ Store and Nintendo eShop.
WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS marks a significant new step in the long partnership between the international baseball-softball federation and the video game giant KONAMI.
Baseball fans and gamers now have a fun and exciting new way to enjoy baseball through eSports and can share their love of the game with millions of fans. With over 300 possible characters, players can build their teams by choosing their hitters, catchers, and pitchers to compete in online matches against rivals from around the world. Mix and match different athletes and stats to find the winning formula.
Once the team is built, players can compete in online matches with friends or in online competitions in Championship mode against players from around the world.
With iconic characters from the highly popular POWERFUL PUROYAKUY series, WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS is perfect for beginners and experienced gamers alike, featuring authentic and strategic gameplay that recreates baseball and its technical and tactical aspects.
WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS is the latest title in the POWERFUL PUROYAKY series, which has sold over 24 million copies as of September 2022 since its first release in 1994.
The global launch starts at SRP €0.99 and allows up to four players on Nintendo Switch™ and PlayStation® and one online player.
The launch of WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the WBSC and KONAMI last year to develop and create a new video game as well as international eSports competitions.
Previous versions of KONAMI’s baseball game have already been used in successful eSports events, the latest being the inaugural edition of the Olympic Virtual Series where the WBSC and KONAMI partnered to organize a baseball tournament for the first time in eSports.
The WBSC Executive Committee approved the addition of eSports as a new discipline of baseball and softball in December 2020, a decision also ratified by the WBSC Congress in 2022.
