The new international event will launch in four countries in September, kicking off on September 1st. The finals are scheduled for November in South Korea.
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and its partner Newdin Contents unveiled the official logo and competition format for its sports property, the WBSC Virtual Cup.
Based on digital elements of baseball and softball representing the speed of the ball mixed with technology, the WBSC Virtual Cup logo will be a rallying call for baseball and softball fans worldwide to participate and stay updated on this groundbreaking event.
« The WBSC Virtual World Cup and its logo truly represent our organization—dynamic, innovative, and futuristic—which can inspire the baseball and softball community to come together around a different format platform, » said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. « We’re entering the virtual world with a project aligned with the WBSC’s strategic goal to develop our sport and connect it with people’s and communities’ lives. I’d like to thank the leaders of Newdin Contents for sharing our common vision, and I look forward to seeing this event mark the beginning of a mutually beneficial long-term partnership. »

« We are pleased to organize the Virtual Cup with the WBSC using Strikezon technology, » said Hong Jin-pyp, CEO of Newdin Contents. « We hope people around the world can fully enjoy the virtual baseball experience during this competition. »
The WBSC Virtual Cup, marking the debut of eSports competitions at the WBSC, will be open to all and see baseball and softball fans form pairs to use Newdin’s cutting-edge technology, ‘Strikezon,’ in stadiums worldwide as a virtual playing field.
The WBSC Virtual Cup kicks off in September and will take place in four countries, with the final scheduled for November in South Korea.
The event consists of three stages: the first round, the second round, and the world finals. The first round will be open to all baseball and softball fans, regardless of their experience level, and will take place in several different divisions based on location. The top teams from each division will then compete in the second round to determine the division champions who will qualify for the World Finals—alongside Wild Cards (invites)—to win the first Virtual Cup and its prize money.
The WBSC plans to announce the full schedule and regulations in July.
The WBSC and Newdin Contents have agreed on a multi-year partnership to develop the WBSC Virtual Cup to continue growing and connecting the global baseball and softball community.
Based in Seoul, South Korea, Newdin Contents sells indoor sports simulators. The company owns Strikezon, a digital baseball product installed in 130 locations across South Korea and the world.
