The World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) is hosting the 5th WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico, from August 26 to September 4.

Hermosillo Stadium
One of the two stadiums in Hermosillo selected for the event is Estadio Sonora, the same one where the Venezuelan national baseball team defeated Mexico in the final of the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup last October, and the one where the Mexican Pacific League’s Naranjeros de Hermosillo play.

« After the successful WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup last year in Hermosillo and Ciudad Obregón, Mexican fans are eager to welcome the best of international baseball once again, » said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. « I would like to express my thanks to Mexico’s President and WBSC Global Ambassador Andrés Manuel López Obrador and to the General Director of the National Commission for Physical Education and Sport (CONADE) Ana Guevara for making this possible. »
With the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup spanning August and September, it marks the start of a tripleheader of WBSC World Cups not to be missed, with the U-18 and U-23 Baseball World Cups following in September and October.
The United States are the reigning U-15 World Champions after defeating host nation Panama in the 2018 final.

The world No. 14 Czech Republic and No. 22 France are the only nations already qualified for the 2022 edition.
As for France, they secured their spot thanks to their victory in the 2021 European Cup, where they finished as runners-up against the Czech Republic, who won on paper following the match’s suspension due to adverse weather conditions. For this World Cup, France finds itself in Group B against Panama, Japan, and Colombia. As for the Czechs, they are in Group A against Mexico, China, and Cuba. The competition will be fierce.
