Women’s baseball is set to gain momentum in France thanks to the Valenciennes Vipers hosting the French Women’s Baseball Open.
From April 16th to 18th, teams from five different squads will face off at Vipères Park this weekend.
There isn’t yet a formal women’s baseball league in France, so the competing teams are alliances. First, there are regional teams from Hauts-de-France and Normandy. Then there are club alliances: The Angels are made up of players from Ermont, Puc, Colombe, Domont, and Saint-Just-Saint-Robert. Another alliance: the GOP (Evry-Courcouronnes, Vauréal, Montigny-le-Bretonneux, Gif/Yvette). Finally, an English team, the Belles Baseball, who aren’t hiding their excitement to come to France and challenge other women’s teams (Facebook page: here).

The matches follow a three-day schedule, with each of the five teams facing each other. That’s four matches per team over the three days. At 2:30 PM on Monday, April 18th, the top two teams will play to decide the champion.
All matches will be broadcast on the French Baseball Federation’s Facebook page and on the Vipères TV YouTube channel. We’ll relay all these live streams on Baseball TV France. Commentary will be provided by Gaétan Alibert and Axelle Palma.
