Every year, the San Diego studios bring us the new version of MLB The Show. The best baseball game on console, this year it will also be released on the Nintendo console, previously reserved for PlayStation and Xbox.
Creating a character, assigning yourself a team, playing the regular season, and downloading your cards on the Show’s website are just some of the many possibilities this game offers. Thanks to motion capture, the players’ movements are breathtakingly realistic—not just in their batting, pitching, relaying, and catching gestures, but also in their on-deck attitudes, after a strikeout, or a fly ball caught. The slow-motion replays are always a magical moment where you say, ‘Yes, it looks just like the real player.’
In fact, the game’s team rosters are those of the real MLB teams. If the game releases on April 5th, it’s just after Opening Day, allowing it to stay as close to reality as possible.
One of the advantages is the multi-platform support, which allows you to play online regardless of your console. Another advantage is the ability to retrieve data from older versions to keep your progress.

The other innovation is that the 2022 edition focuses on a character: the 2021 MVP Shohei Ohtani. He is at the center of the cover, both as a pitcher and a batter. This is a boon for graphic designers who can ignite the ball in both axes of the game. On the Show website, you can see the making-of of the animated images with Ohtani wearing the famous suit with small balls that allow artificial intelligence to precisely recreate his pitching and batting movements.
Have fun while waiting for the 2021 version, and still two months to wait for Opening Day and the launch of this new game.
