The 2021 D3 season aimed to give regional league enthusiasts more playing time. This format also creates unique matchups outside the usual local championships, bringing regional teams together in a nationwide competition. This is how dominant regional sides that normally never face each other can go head-to-head.
It was on the French Cubs of Chartres’ field this Sunday that the Boucaniers’ reserve team, led by Pablo Ossandon (MVP of the final), claimed their first D3 Open title! Also competing in this final showdown were the Expos d’Ermont and the Gambas d’Anglet. The final three teams emerged from three geographic rounds featuring nine teams, leading to the D3 final at Gellainville’s baseball park.
